Malpractice
Just like staff healthcare professionals, travel nurses and allied health travelers face the risk of malpractice claims. Because of this risk, it's critical for travelers to have malpractice insurance, and understand how it works. As a traveler Nomad Health, you are covered for malpractice under our professional liability insurance policy with The Medical Protective Company.
What is malpractice insurance?
Malpractice insurance, also known as professional liability insurance, is a type of insurance that protects healthcare professionals like travel nurses and allied health against claims of neglegence and mistakes that may cause harm to a patient.
Why is malpractice insurance important for travelers?
There are a few reasons why it's important for travelers to have malpractice insurance, but it mostly comes down to coverage.
Better coverage
As a travel nurse or allied health traveler, malpractice insurance is important because travlers are not inheritently given the same type of malpractice coverage as staff nurses and staff allied professionals. For example, staff healthcare professionals commonly have a higher caliber of protection that are covered by their employers insurance. Depending on the facility you are working at, their malpractice insurance for travelers may vary in terms of coverage limits.
